Lazy sunday....learn to crotchet

Today I decided I wanted to teach myself #crotchet. I had a failed attempt about a 3 years ago, and I put down my crotchet hooks and never looked back. I then taught myself to knit and loved it.

Last weekend my boyfriends mom had brought some stuff of his over that she had found in the attic, going through this stuff he found a crotchet hook that was not his and asked me if I wanted it, I took the hook threw it In my pocket and there it sat for a week.

Watching tv tonight, something made crotcheting pop into my head, I ignored it for a little while then I decided oh ill try it again.iwent and fetched that crotchet hook my boyfriend gave me, and ventured to YouTube . I watched a short video on how to start the chain, and how to add a row,  the little tutorial helped you learn the basics and gave you a project at the same time, a crocheted dishcloth.

After watching the video and trying along a little bit, I sat and watched the video through till the end I started the chain with the video then watches the next part, skipped back in the video and the. Wotked the next part with the video. Iwent and started doing the rows to finish the dishcloth.  It is my first crotchet project, so its not terribly pretty, but im proud of myself for learning some basics. I will share some photos tomorrow its bedtime for me

Until next post!

Julep may maven box

Im going to go off the knitting topic a bit, and discuss my julep nail polish box. I was excited about this box because it came with the plié wand, its a long balanced handle that helps you improves leverage control and overall comfort. It magnetically connects to any plié compatible julep cap, but its a new product so im assuming next months will start having the caps.

Anyway, inside the plié wand box a precision cap is included, which is a shorter brush, and u can pull the cap out of the plié overcap and connect to any julep polish you already have. Looking further into the box I saw that they added an extra precision brush and and extra overcap with no brush to use with non plié cap julep polishes,  had I looked further in the box I would of used the overcap instead of pilling the brush out of the precision brush in the wand box. I just really wanted to try it.

In this box I also opted to add on a mystery polish, which was a blue color similar to the one that came in the box originally.  I was only a slight bit disappointed about it, but then I realized I dont have alot of blues so it worked out. I decided on the boho glam box this month instead of my normal it girl box, I really was drawn to the purple in this box.

The polish I got was the wonderful purple by the name of paulette, a light cream blue by the name of jeanne and my mystery blue by the name of bess, with also looks cream but is lighter than jeanne. I have not tryed the blues but I have the purple, and I love it. Its kind of sheer but a few coats will give full coverage.

My thoughts on the plié wand, I love it, I have more control with my non-dominate hand and dont have to clean up my nails afterward. I feel its more comfortable as well. Others may hate it but its all in personal preference.  Ill include some photos of all my stuff

Until next post!

Waffle blanket update

Alright,  I'm finally posting and update on my blanket.  I haven't gotten terribly far on it, but I find the pattern to be easier than I thought. I was a little worried about the drop yo, but once I actually started doing it I saw the effect it had, and saw I worried about messing up for no good reason. I did however build my confidence by watching a few videos of the move in action before my attempt. Ill have a picture or 2 to post of what ive done so far, and im pretth confident that ill be able to finish this blanket pattern.

Yesterday I went to Michaels craft store, to spend a giftcard I had gotten for my birthday. I picked up some double point needles, and some cute sock yarn to attempt making socks! Its something ive always wanted to try, and im super excited about this adventure,  and ill take you along with me of course! So thats all I got for this post. I may post about my julep maven box I got the other day, I do love the polishes in this month's box

Until next post!

waffle blanket!...maybe

hello readers,

im attempting another blanket, if you have noticed i have not posted any updates on the heart blanket i was working on....i decided to scrap it after not working on it for some time and then my needles had slipped out of it when it was moved and i didnt notice. i was unable to save it after the slip and i was a decent way into it i decided to unravel and not do a blanket for a while.

I had saved a nice pattern on ravelry that i was really interested in doing. it was a neat pattern that incorporated dropped yarn overs, i was a bit confused at this process so i didnt dare attempt it. but lately i have gotten more and more interested in it that i was watching youtube videos on how to do it that i am now more confidant than ever, and im just going to jump in and give it a shot. im going to try my best to stick this blanket all the way through, if i do this will be my first completed blanket project!

So, a little about the pattern, its called the waffle blanket by alexis layton (her ravelry username is alexislayton) her patterns are free to use for personal use. she has a few others on ravelry that are interesting that i wouldn't mind trying but i have to get threw this blanket one first! i'm using a us size 8 circular needle as suggested per her pattern and i'm using redheart in pale yellow as my color, i got a couple super saver skeins in that color on clearance at walmart for half off so i couldn't pass it up. all i have gotten done on it so far is the cast on of 158, ill keep you updated on my progress as often as i can, i got 2 classes left in my hunter safety class and im also looking for a new job sense my current one has become overwhelming in many different ways, im looking to probably go back in to plain old retail for a while until an opportunity i have been waiting for comes available.

Boot cuffs!

Its been a bit sense my hand warmers post, but I have still been working on some projects. I have been working on some boot cuffs to go with my friends teal hand warms I made her from Christmas I have one done and am halfway done with the other. I would have been completely done by now but I was sick for a week and didn't feel much like knitting, however I very much felt like playing animal crossing new leaf sense I got it back again for valentines day! Long story on why I had to get it again, but having to start over sucked but still fun. Anyway back to the knitting part. So I didn't really follow a pattern I just wanted them to match the hand warmers I made for my friend so I just did ribbing then seed stitch and ribbing again to make a nice boot cuff. I used a us size 9 circular needle and knitted in the round which, would make these my first in the round project and its so far turned out good I'll give an update when I finish the other one but I do have a price of the one I did and I sent it to my friend to see. It looks a little funky because those boots are a little tight on the top.

Easy Flat knit handwarmers....revisited.

I know that back in october i made a post about some easy flat knit handwarmers that i wanted to try to make. well i did make them and i thought i had posted how they came out on my blog, but from looking threw my blog post i have not. well doing everything according to the other bloggers specifications, my hand warmers didnt quite come out like hers. my ribbing didnt look right, so i went on and finished the other one as per her instructions and left it at that for a little while because work got crazy and its finally slowing down there.

So i decided i was going to revisit this project to figure out what i did wrong because i wanted to make a pair for a friend for her christmas gift. i alway make her at least one thing and then buy her something small within our specified budget. as i started the ribbing section i decided i wanted the ribbing just a little bigger so instead of the k1 p1 the pattern called for i did k2 p2 and i cast on 34 stitches instead of 25 because i was using different yarn and figured i would need a few more cast ons, plus changing the pattern a bit would require me to change the amount i have on my needle because they needed to be even.

knitting with my us size 9 bamboo needles i k2 p2 on the first row, now thinking about something i read somewhere i figured i would try doing p2 k2 on the second row to see if they would line up in the ribbing pattern and guess what, they sure did!

side note: i did try the original pattern in a k1 p1 then p1 k1 and the pattern came out in the smaller ribbing that was initially inteaded in the first pattern but i still wanted a little bigger ribbing so went back to my change.

so i continued on threw the pattern as specified and when i came to the top cuff i did the k2 p2, but instead of flipping it and doing the p2 k2 on the second row i stuck with the k2 p2 and the ribbing came out as it should of initially when i started the pattern.

i dont know what i did in the first place but it didnt come out right on my first pair but i figured i was half way threw i might as well finish just do them both the same, and i used them on the weekend cabin trip and they helped me stay warm. i have finished the pair for my friend and i will feature pictures of the ones i made for myself and the ones i made for her so you can see the difference in the pattern. until next post

(mine are the purple, the ones for my friend are the blue/teal)
